What are the opening hours for the hotel and the front desk?

The Braunbär Hotel & Spa and the reception are open 24 hours a day and 7 days a week. Our reception staff is always at your service and will answer your questions, whether by email or by phone, at any time of the day.

What payment methods are accepted?

You can pay by Visa, AMEX, Maestro, Mastercard, JCB, TWINT, Postcard or in cash.

Bank cheques are not accepted.

What languages are spoken at the Braunbär Hotel & Spa?

Our hotel team welcomes and assists guests in French, English and German.

Does the hotel have Wi-Fi for internet access?

Indeed, the hotel does have a high-speed Wi-Fi connection allowing you to connect to the internet for free. Wi-Fi is available throughout the hotel, both in the rooms and public areas (lobby, restaurant and bar) as well as in the wellness area (spa, massage room).

Are pets allowed in the hotel?

Yes, pets are welcome in all room categories for an additional charge of 25 CHF per room, per night (food not included). You can add your pet when making your reservation.

Please note that pets are not permitted in the restaurant or the wellness area. Assistance dogs are welcome in the restaurant upon presentation of valid certification.

To ensure the comfort of all our guests, the hotel reserves the right to refuse or remove any animal that causes disturbance.

Is smoking or vaping permitted in the hotel?

The hotel is entirely non-smoking, including the public areas and rooms. Therefore, smoking and vaping are strictly prohibited. Smoking in the hotel room will expose you to a penalty of 200 CHF.

Is the hotel suitable for people with reduced mobility (PRM)?

Yes, the hotel has 3 rooms suitable for people with reduced mobility, including bathrooms that can accommodate wheelchairs. All areas of the hotel are wheelchair accessible via our lift system, except the karaoke room and the children's playroom.

Why should I choose the Braunbär Hotel & Spa when staying in Wengen?

The Braunbär Hotel & Spa is ideally located on the main street in Wengen, just a few minutes’ walk from the village station. Completely renovated, the hotel offers a wide selection of comfortable rooms with stunning views of the surrounding peaks or the Lauterbrunnen Valley.

In addition to a hearty breakfast buffet, the hotel also has a restaurant offering three culinary experiences: the Grillkota, the Fondue Gondola and the Goldlöckchen restaurant.

Ideal for relaxation, the Braunbär Hotel & Spa has a wellness area with a spa, steam room, pool and sauna with views of the Bernese Alps. Our team of practitioners is also on hand to provide massages and body treatments.

How do I get to the Braunbär Hotel & Spa?

Access by train:

From Interlaken Ost station, you reach Wengen in 44 minutes. The blue and yellow train of the Berner Oberland Bahn (BOB) will take you to Lauterbrunnen. Make sure to board the front of the train, as the rear section splits off toward Grindelwald at Zweilütschinen station. At Lauterbrunnen, change to the yellow and green train of the Wengernalpbahn (WAB). It will take you directly to Wengen in about 15 minutes.

‍Access by car:

Wengen is a pedestrian village situated above the Lauterbrunnen Valley and can only be reached by train from Lauterbrunnen. You cannot, therefore, park directly at the hotel.

We recommend that you park your car at the Lauterbrunnen car park, situated next to the station. From Lauterbrunnen, take the train to Wengen. Trains run every 30 minutes early in the morning and until 9.30 pm, then at reduced intervals into the night.

The journey takes about 15 minutes, and tickets are available at Lauterbrunnen station or online on the SBB-CFF website.

What parking facilities are available in Lauterbrunnen?

There is a multi-storey parking lot connected directly to the Lauterbrunnen station, with 975 spaces, several of which are reserved for electric vehicles. The limit height for vehicles is 2.50m.

You can park in the Lauterbrunnen car park by the hour or by the day without reservation. However, a reservation is only possible from 3 days (in summer), or 5 days (in winter).

We recommend that you reserve your parking space before your arrival. To make a reservation, go to the website of the Jungfrau, in the Lauterbrunnen parking section.

‍You can also use the parking lot of the church of Lauterbrunnen or that of camping Schützenbach. To get from there to the train station, a bus leaves every half an hour. On foot, it takes about ten minutes.

Can I get a transfer from the Wengen train station to the hotel?

If you wish, we can arrange a transfer from Wengen station to the hotel to help you with your luggage from 8 am until 8 pm. We invite you to let us know your arrival time in advance and inform us when making your reservation so that we can organize this service.

A transfer from Lauterbrunnen is unfortunately not possible.

Is the hotel bike-friendly?

Indeed, you can bring your own bike with you during your stay at the Braunbär Hotel & Spa. During the summer, we store your equipment in our ski room to keep it safe.

Please note that if you wish to bring your bike, you will need to purchase a specific ticket to transport it on SBB CFF trains.

Are children under 16 entitled to a discount on the train?

Yes, with the Junior card for 30 CHF, children aged 6 to 16 can travel on public transport for an entire year accompanied by a parent with a valid ticket. Children under 6 travel even for free with a companion.

You can get the Junior card at any station. To find out more, we invite you to visit the SBB website under the traveling with children section.

What time is check-in?

Rooms are available from 4 pm.

‍If you arrive before the check-in time, you’ll have access to the hotel lobby area and the Braunbärbar. We also provide drinks (water, tea and coffee) as well as access to Wi-Fi and a shower room.

The free luggage storage service is also at your disposal, which will allow you to drop off your belongings before taking the road to the slopes or hiking trails depending on the season.

What time is check-out?

Rooms must be vacated by 11 am.

Your luggage can be stored free of charge after your check-out to allow you to enjoy your last day in Wengen.

Can we request an early check-in/late check-out?

Depending on availability, it is possible to have an early check-in or a late check-out. If you wish to arrive earlier, it is essential to contact our reservations team beforehand. To have the room for sure before 4 pm, you can also book the previous night.

If you would like to keep your room after 11 am, please visit reception no later than the day before your scheduled departure to find out what options are available. You can also book the room for an extra night.

Is it possible to arrive late at night?

Yes, our reception is open 24/7, enabling you to arrive late, even during the night. If you plan to arrive after 11 pm, please let us know so we can arrange a smooth arrival for you.

Is it possible to leave early in the morning?

Yes, you can check out early in the morning or during the night. To make your check-out go smoothly, we recommend that you let the front desk know in advance and settle your bill beforehand to ensure a quick and hassle-free departure.

Can I leave my luggage at the hotel after my check-out?

Yes, you can use our free luggage storage service and enjoy your last hours in Wengen.

Is it possible to take a shower after checking out?

Absolutely, even after your check-out, you can still use the spa shower room, allowing you to enjoy the ski area or the mountain trails freely on your last day.

Yes, the hotel has 3 accessible rooms designed for guests with reduced mobility: 1 Family room and 2 Superior rooms with balcony.

These rooms have been specifically designed to provide comfort, accessibility, and greater independence throughout your stay.

Are the rooms cleaned during the stay?

Absolutely, rooms are cleaned each day between 8:30 am and 2 pm. If you would like the service at a more specific time, you can contact the reception team, our staff will do their best to accommodate your needs, where possible. For smooth service, we kindly ask that pets are not present in the room during housekeeping.

What are the facilities in the rooms?

All rooms at our hotel are equipped with high-speed Wi-Fi, a secret code safe, telephone, HD television with satellite channels, free on-demand movies and Chromecast. Each room has an office area with a kettle for tea and a coffee machine for a comfortable stay.

Regarding the safe, you can choose your personal code by following the instructions on the door of the safe and put your valuables in safety when you leave your room.

In the bathroom, you will find bathrobes and slippers, a hairdryer and NUXE products (soap, shampoo and shower gel). All our bathrooms are equipped with a bath or shower.

Do the rooms have separate beds?

All our rooms are equipped with a double bed, but it is possible to configure them with two separate single beds upon request.

If you would like this configuration, please inform us when making your booking so that we can prepare your room accordingly.

Do the rooms have air conditioning?

Our rooms are not air-conditioned. Wengen is located at 1274m, and the nights are pleasantly cool, even in summer. On request, we can provide you with a fan. Please contact our reception for more information.

Can we open the windows in the rooms?

Yes, every room has a window that can be opened to let some fresh air in. We also have room categories that offer a balcony, accessible via a glass door.

Does the hotel offer baby beds?

Yes, we provide baby beds free of charge when you request them at the hotel reception. You can also specify this in your reservation, and we will install the bed in your room.

Does the hotel offer connecting rooms?

Absolutely, the hotel offers Connecting rooms with bunk beds and Connecting rooms for four people. For more information about their amenities, please visit the Rooms page on our website. This setup is ideal for families with older children and teenagers, or for group stays.

Which rooms are suitable for families?

Our ‘Family Rooms’ and ‘Duplex Rooms’ are ideal for families with one or two children, offering plenty of space and ample storage.

Please note that the Duplex Rooms are spread over two floors (a mezzanine level with an open staircase and a safety gate) and feature two 90x190 bunk beds and two 90x200 beds that can be arranged as a double bed or two single beds.

Do all the rooms have a view?

All the rooms of the hotel have a beautiful view of the landscapes around Wengen. Depending on your location in the hotel, you can enjoy a view of the Lauterbrunnen Valley (west side) or the Männlichen mountain (east side).

Can I request a specific room when booking?

Yes, you can indicate your preferences when booking (floor, view, bed type, etc.). Our team will do its best to accommodate your request, subject to availability.

What are the hotel’s services?

The Braunbär Hotel & Spa offers a wide range of facilities and services designed to make your stay as comfortable and enjoyable as possible.

Guests can enjoy a wellness area featuring three treatment rooms, a swimming pool, a Nordic sauna, and a steam room. For dining, the hotel offers several unique experiences, including Goldlöckchen, the Fondue Gondola, the Grillkota, and the Braunbärbar.

The hotel also features a dedicated children’s area, a karaoke room, a ski room for winter equipment, and two seminar rooms for business stays, meetings, or private events.

Does the hotel offer a laundry service?

Yes, the hotel offers a laundry service charged per item of clothing.

Laundry can be dropped off before 9 am and will be returned within 24 hours.

If needed, an Express Service with garments returned in 12 hours is also available, subject to a 50% surcharge on the standard laundry rates.

Does the hotel offer childcare services?

The Braunbär Hotel & Spa does not offer childcare services.

The Tourist Office can provide you with a current list of available babysitters in the village.

Can we ask for special services during our stay?

Yes, we offer a free luggage storage service during your stay at the hotel so you can enjoy Wengen from your first moment here to the last minute.

Does the hotel provide electrical adapters?

Yes, we can provide an electrical adapter if requested at reception. Please bring it back at check-out.

What are the breakfast hours?

The hotel’s breakfast is open from 7 am to 1O am, in the form of a full buffet including sweet and savory products, fresh fruit as well as cold drinks and hot beverages.  Everything is in place so that you can choose between a balanced breakfast or more gourmet.

Is room service available?

Yes, we offer breakfast room service from 7 am to 1O am. You can book it by dialing 520 from your room phone or by filling out the back of the "breakfast" door hanger and placing it on your door handle on the hallway side before 4 am.

We also offer a snack and tapas menu, available from 3 pm to 11 pm, with both sweet and savory options. Room service is charged at 10 CHF per order.

Can I order a takeaway breakfast for the day of my departure?

Yes, you can order breakfast or a lunch basket for 15 CHF no later than the day before your departure, before 6 pm.

Is breakfast open to non-residents?

Absolutely! Guests from outside the hotel are also welcome to enjoy the breakfast buffet. The price per person is 28 CHF for adults and 20 CHF for children, and is to be paid directly to our staff on site.

What are the opening hours for Goldlöckchen?

The Goldlöckchen is open from 6:30 pm to 9:30 pm for the restaurant, the Fondue Gondola and the Grillkota.

What does the Goldlöckchen restaurant offer?

The Goldlöckchen restaurant is the hotel’s classic restaurant and offers a half-board menu and à la carte dishes inspired by bistronomic cuisine, using local and seasonal products.

If you are not on half board, we advise you to book your table in advance, especially during school holidays and weekends. You can book at our reception or directly on our website.

What is the Fondue Gondola?

The Fondue Gondola is a unique experience for two. In one of the old little cabins of the Männlichen cable car, you will be able to taste one of the most iconic Swiss specialties: fondue.

You can book on our website or directly at at reception. The number of services is limited to 2 per evening, so we advise you to book in advance to enjoy this unique experience in Wengen.

What is the Grillkota?

The Grillkota is the second unique experience of the Goldlöckchen, to be discovered in our grill hut. Installed around the central fireplace, the Grillkota offers a unique dinner with a generous raclette for groups of 6 to 12 people.

We also offer hut evenings where you don’t have to be a group and several guests can share this experience together (min. 6 persons in total).

To book, it is advisable to do so in advance via our online booking calendar to ensure the availability of the experience. It is possible to book on the same day before 10:30 am.

Do the menus offer vegetarian and vegan options?

The restaurant’s menu offers several vegetarian and vegan options. The menu of the Fondue Gondola is composed of a vegetarian fondue and an appetizer and a dessert of the day which can be vegetarian. The Grillkota Raclette can be enjoyed as vegetarian menu as well.

In case of food intolerances or special diets, we will be happy to meet your needs by preparing dishes tailored to your needs.

What are the bar hours?

The Braunbärbar is open every day from 3 pm to 11 pm in a relaxed atmosphere. On our bar menu, you will find a wide selection of drinks, including our signature cocktails.

Does the bar offer food?

Yes, the Braunbärbar offers a few snacks, like pizza, gyozas or cheese board from 3 pm until 10:30 pm. It also serves smoothies and ice cream during summer.

Is there any musical entertainment at the bar?

Indeed, we offer a program of live concerts. You can find the schedule at reception or at the bar.

Can we come to the bar for a drink without being guests of the hotel?

Of course, the Braunbärbar is open to customers outside the hotel, and our teams will be happy to welcome you and serve you. The Braunbärbar is the perfect place to have a drink with friends and enjoy a warm and friendly atmosphere.

What are the opening hours of the spa area?

Our wellness and spa area is accessible to all hotel guests between 10 am and 8 pm. Please be aware that between 6 pm and 8 pm the spa is reserved for adults only.

Is access to the spa included in the stay?

Yes, access to the spa is included in the room price and allows you to use swimming pool, sauna and steam room. Massages and beauty treatments are not included and can be booked via our website or at the spa reception. treatment menu features a full range of massages and wellness treatments.

Is the hotel’s spa open all year?

Yes, the NUXE Spa is open all year round, except when the hotel is closed, and offers a variety of services to help you relax during your stay in Wengen.

What facilities are available?

The spa area consists of an indoor area including 3 treatment rooms, a steam room and a 17x8m swimming pool facing the Bernese Alps. A shop dedicated to NUXE products is located at the entrance of the spa, where our team will be happy to advise you.

The outdoor area includes a Nordic sauna and a large terrace, surrounded by the surrounding peaks, which have comfortable sunbeds and a fire pit.

Is the spa accessible to people with reduced mobility?

Yes, wheelchair users can reach the spa floor via a lift and access the wellness area. However, the swimming pool does not have access ramps, making it difficult for people with reduced mobility to use. The steam room, on the other hand, is wheelchair accessible.

I am not a hotel guest; how can I enjoy the wellness area?

To access the wellness area, you can pay an entry fee of 38 CHF per person.

Alternatively, you can book a treatment lasting at least 45 minutes and enjoy one hour’s free access, either before or after your treatment, to make the most of the spa’s other facilities, such as the sauna, the steam room and the swimming pool.

Do you need a booking to access the spa?

If you want to access the swimming pool, sauna or steam room, there is no need to book, you just need to come with your swimwear. You can also enjoy the outdoor relaxation area.

For treatments, it is essential to book your massage in advance if you want to take advantage of the services of our NUXE professionals.

How do I book a treatment?

You can book a treatment directly via our online booking system or by emailing spa@braunbaerhotel.com. Our Spa offers a wide range of treatments and massages lasting from 30 minutes to 3 hours.

Is the spa area accessible to children?

Yes, the spa area is accessible to children from 10 am to 6 pm. However, access to the sauna and steam room is prohibited for people under 16 years old. The spa is a space dedicated to well-being and relaxation; it is essential to respect the tranquility of the place.

What types of swimwear are needed in the spa?

All types of swimwear are permitted, provided they are appropriate for a shared wellness environment.

For hygiene reasons, we recommend that men wear fitted swim briefs.

Can I buy my ski pass at the hotel?

Absolutely, to make it easier for you, you can buy your ski pass directly at our hotel reception. You can also buy your pass online on the Jungfrau website or at the Tourist Office.

Can we make a reservation in advance by contacting reception to have them ready on the day of arrival?

Yes, you can preorder your pass when you receive your booking confirmation.

If you want to use them already on the arrival day we recommend buying them at the train station or online, because the train from Interlaken Ost to Lauterbrunnen and Wengen is already included in the tickets.

How can I access the ski area from the hotel?

The cable car of the Männlichen is located less than 100 meters from the hotel and will allow you to reach the top of the Männlichen. From the top, you can then enjoy the Grindelwald-Wengen ski area easily and reach the Grindelwald First area as well.

You can also take the train in Wengen to reach the stations of Kleine Scheidegg and Eigergletscher if you wish. Another option is the Mürren-Schilthorn area, which is accessible from Lauterbrunnen.

Where can I buy transport tickets to the ski area?

You can buy multi-day passes and individual train tickets at the hotel reception to reach the ski area. There are different packages available, our team will be happy to help you find the one that suits you.

Is there a special offer on ski passes?

Indeed, an offer is put in place on Saturdays. When an adult buys a day pass or afternoon pass, he/she can benefit from a free day pass for up to three children (between 6 and 15 years old), valid in the Jungfrau Ski Region.

You can find and benefit from this offer at the hotel reception.

Which ski schools are there in Wengen?

There are two ski schools in Wengen: the Swiss Ski School and the Private Ski School. We recommend booking lessons in advance, especially during the high season.

The Swiss Ski School offers both group and private lessons. Group lessons are organised by level and usually take place from Sunday to Friday, in the morning from 9:45 am to 12:45 pm, and in the afternoon from 2 pm to 4 pm during peak periods. Lessons are available in more than 10 languages, although we recommend contacting the school early if you require a less common language.

The Private Ski School offers private lessons for individuals or small groups and can be a good option if you would like children or participants of different levels to ski together.

Does the hotel have a ski shop?

No, the hotel does not offer an on-site ski shop, but we partner with Molitor Sport, a nearby store. By booking with them, you can enjoy a 15% discount on clothing and sports equipment rentals.

Can I store my own ski equipment at the hotel?

Of course, the Braunbär Hotel & Spa has its own ski room, with private ski locker to store your skis and your equipment, free of charge.

Is the ski room equipped with shoe dryers?

Yes, all the ski lockers are equipped with shoe dryers to keep your gears dry after a ski day. They are turned on during the night, so your shoes are ready in the morning for a new day on the slopes.

What are the best winter activities?

Staying in Wengen during winter is the perfect time to treat yourself to some skiing and snowboarding in the Jungfrau ski region. The Männlichen area, right above Wengen is perfect for families and allows you to reach Kleine Scheidegg and Grindelwald.

In addition to offering great slopes, Wengen also hosts the Alpine Ski World Cup every year in January, for the Lauberhorn races.

You should also do the famous Kleine Scheidegg sledge run, a scenic 15-kilometre run to Lauterbrunnen, with sledging through Wengernalp and Wengen on the way down. After all this outdoor adventure, enjoy a relaxing time at the NUXE spa in the hotel to get rid of all the tiredness in your body.

What summer activities are must-do in Wengen?

During a summer stay in Wengen, you can enjoy all the main mountain activities, including hiking, trail walking and mountain biking. The area offers a wide range of scenic trails for all levels, whether on foot or by bike. Rental bikes are available in the village, we suggest the Intersport central sport, located close to the hotel.

For more extreme sensations, you can find paragliding sessions over the Lauterbrunnen valley, launching from Mürren with breathtaking views of the valley and the summits around.

Which hikes are worth doing around Wengen?

One of the most picturesque hikes around Wengen is the panoramic trail connecting the summit of Männlichen to Kleine Scheidegg. After taking the Männlichen cable car, this scenic walk offers stunning mountain views before returning on foot or by train, which provides equally beautiful scenery.

For a more alpine experience, the Eiger Trail starting from Kleine Scheidegg is another excellent option. Shorter and easier walks are also popular, including the trail down to Lauterbrunnen and the Wengernalp path, both ideal for a relaxed day outdoors.

Should I visit the Jungfraujoch during my summer stay?

Absolutely. Summer is one of the best times to visit the Jungfraujoch and enjoy its spectacular high-alpine scenery.

At this time of year, you can admire the contrast between snow-covered peaks and the green valleys below, often with clearer views and more favourable weather conditions for the journey and the panorama at the top.

Can the hotel accommodate seminars and business trips?

Yes, our hotel can host seminars and corporate events thanks to its two modular seminar rooms that can be adapted to your needs.

What is the capacity of the seminar rooms?

The seminar rooms can accommodate up to 66 people when set up in a theater-style configuration.

What equipment is available in the seminar rooms?

Our two rooms are equipped with a TV with HD screen, a sound system, a flipchart and a microphone to facilitate meetings and presentations. Writing sets are also made available to participants so that they can take notes.

We also set up a space with unlimited tea and coffee, as well as carafes of still and sparkling water.

Are the rooms suitable for remote work?

Of course! In addition to high-speed Wi-Fi available throughout the hotel, all rooms are equipped with a dedicated workspace featuring a desk, a comfortable chair, and multiple power outlets to help you work efficiently throughout your stay.

Can I visit the Jungfraujoch during my stay in Wengen?

Yes, it is easy to visit the Jungfraujoch, also known as the "Top of Europe," from Wengen. The trip takes an hour and a half to reach the summit from the Wengen train station (take the Wengernalpbahn to Kleine Scheidegg and transfer to the Jungfraujoch Railway) and you’ll have one of the most impressive view of the Bernese Alps.

How far is the hotel from the cable car of the Männlichen and the train station?

The hotel is located directly opposite from the Männlichen cable car, less than 100 meters away. Wengen train station is also easily accessible on foot, just 200 meters from the hotel at the end of Dorfstrasse.

What is the "Royal Walk" and how can I do it?

The "Royal Walk" is one of the most iconic activities in Wengen and one of the easiest walks around, making it an ideal option for families. Take the cable car to reach the Männlichen summit then follow the path for a short walk and enjoy the view from the crown platform at the end. For a more scenic experience, choose the "Royal Ride" when taking the cable car and enjoy the lift on top of a cabin.

What are the most beautiful waterfalls to see around Wengen?

The Lauterbrunnen Valley is famous for its many waterfalls. The most iconic is the Staubbach Falls, visible from Lauterbrunnen, Wengen, and even from the train.
