Are pets allowed at the hotel?

Dogs are welcome to stay in any of our guest rooms. They are not permitted in the restaurants, the indoor pool or the wellness centre. There is an additional fee of CHF 25 per dog, per night (food not included).

Please indicate you will be bringing a four-legged friend when you make your booking.

Will my room be cleaned during my stay?

Your room will be cleaned between 8:30 am and 4:30 pm. If you would like your room cleaned at a specific time, please let us know.

Can I park my car at the hotel?

Wengen is a car-free village above the Lauterbrunnen Valley. It can only be reached by train.

Park your car at the car park in Lauterbrunnen, right next to the train station. The cost of parking is not included in the price of your room. We recommend booking your parking place before you travel here, at least five days in advance in winter or three days ahead of time in summer: https://www.jungfrau.ch/shop/fr/parkticket.

From Lauterbrunnen, take the train to Wengen. It runs every 30 minutes during the day. The trip takes about 15 minutes. Tickets are available at the Lauterbrunnen train station or online at www.sbb.ch.

We would be happy to send our porter to the train station to help you with your luggage (between 8 am and 8 pm).

Which payment methods does the hotel accept?

You can pay by Visa, American Express, Maestro, Mastercard or cash.

Can I smoke/vape at the hotel?

The entire hotel is non-smoking (including the common areas, the rooms and the balconies). Smoking risks a fine of €150.

Does the hotel have internet?

We offer free WiFi throughout the hotel.

What other amenities does the hotel offer? 

Television with video on demand, a business centre with meeting rooms, a children’s play area, a lobby and bar, restaurants, Spa Nuxe wellness centre and more.

Which rooms are suitable for families?

Our Family and Family Duplex Rooms are suitable for families with one or two children. In the Duplex Rooms, the bedrooms are located upstairs (on a mezzanine with an open staircase and a safety barrier). They contain two bunk beds and two single beds (90×200 cm). In some Family Rooms, we can add an extra bed for one or two more children.

If you are travelling with older children, or if you want added comfort, you can book two adjoining rooms with a communicating door. On the village side, we can offer combinations that sleep up to four people. On the valley side, up to five.

Are there baby cots in the rooms?

Yes. They are available to you at no extra charge. Simply indicate in your reservation that you want a baby cot.

How do I change or cancel an existing booking?

In summer (1 May to 31 October)
You can cancel or change your booking up to seven days before your scheduled arrival, at no charge. Cancellation fees will apply six or fewer days before your scheduled arrival date.

In winter (1 November to 30 April)
You can cancel or change your booking up to 15 days before your scheduled arrival, at no charge (except for bookings made with FIX – non-refundable – pricing and bookings covering dates between 26 December and 2 January). Cancellation fees will apply 14 or fewer days before your scheduled arrival date.

What time is check-in?

Our rooms are available at 4pm.

‍Ifyou arrive before 4pm, the lobby area and bar remain accessible.

Drinks (tea/coffee) are also available.

Luggage storage is available free of charge.

What time is check-out?

The rooms must be vacated by 11 am.

You can leave your bags with us for free after check-out, so you can make the most of your last day in Wengen.

Does the hotel have a luggage room?

Before checking in or after checking out, our luggage room is at your disposal, free of charge.

Are early arrivals and late departures allowed?

Early arrivals and late departures are subject to room availability.

Late check-outs are possible for an added fee, subject to availability.

What are the reception desk hours?

Our reception is open daily from 7 am to 11 pm. If you will be arriving after 11 pm, please let the hotel know in advance.

Does the hotel have air conditioning?

Our guest rooms are not air-conditioned. Wengen is located at an elevation of 1,274 metres, so the nights are pleasantly cool, even in summer. On request, we can provide you with a fan. Please contact reception for more information.

How do I get to the hotel?

Access by train: From the Interlaken East train station, you can reach Wengen in 44 minutes. The blue and yellow Berner Oberland Bahn (BOB) train will take you to Lauterbrunnen. Get on at the front of the train, because the back will be unhitched to go to a different valley at Zweilütschinen train station. In Lauterbrunnen, switch to the yellow and green Wengernalpbahn (WAB) train. It will take you directly to Wengen in about 15 minutes.

By car: Wengen is a car-free village, so it can only be reached by train. There are no roads to Wengen.

Guests arriving by car must park their vehicle in Lauterbrunnen and take a train from there. Along the cantonal road, it takes about 15 minutes to get from Interlaken to Lauterbrunnen.

Where can I park my car?

There is a multi-storey car park next to Lauterbrunnen train station. We recommend booking a parking space in advance (at least five days in winter and three days in summer). Book here

You can also use the car parks at Lauterbrunnen’s church or the Schützenbach campsite. A bus leaves from there every half-hour and will take you to the train station. On foot, it’s about a 10-minute walk.

Braunbär Hotel & Spa does not have its own parking spaces.

Will someone meet me at the train station?

If you like, we can organize a transfer from the train station in Wengen to the hotel. Please give us your arrival time in advance.

Unfortunately, transfers from Lauterbrunnen are not possible.

Do kids under 16 get a discount on the train?

Yes, with the Junior card (which costs CHF 30), children ages 6 to 16 can use public transport for a whole year, when accompanied by a parent with a valid ticket. Children under 6 travel free with an adult companion.

You can buy a Junior card at any Swiss train station.

How far is the hotel from the train station and from the Männlichen cable car?

The hotel is right across from the Männlichen cable car station and just 200 metres from the train station.

Can I order breakfast to take away on my check-out day?

Yes, you can order a breakfast or lunch basket (for CHF 15) by 6 pm the day before your departure.

Where can I buy cable car tickets?

You can buy hiking passes, as well as train tickets, at reception throughout the year. Various hiking passes are available in summer, and we will be happy to advise you on the right one for you.

To visit the Jungfraujoch on a clear day, we strongly recommend an advance booking. You can book your spot (CHF 10 per person) directly with us.

Where can I buy ski passes?

You can buy a ski pass for Wengen-Grindelwald or anywhere in the Jungfrau Region directly at our hotel’s reception. Simply request your passes at check-in, and they will be ready for you that evening or the next morning. Of course, we can also help you pick the ski area you want to visit.

Did you know? On Saturdays, up to three kids (ages 6 to 15) can get a free day pass in the Jungfrau Ski Region with the purchase of an adult day or afternoon pass at the standard rate. This special offer is available at reception.

Does Wengen have ski schools, and do I need to book a lesson in advance?

There are two ski schools in Wengen, a Swiss ski school and a private ski school. We recommend booking your lessons in advance, especially during the high season.

The Swiss Ski School offers group lessons (with one skill level per group) and private lessons. Group lessons are taught Sunday to Friday mornings, from 9:45 to 12:45, and also in the afternoon during the high season, from 2 to 4. The Swiss ski school gives lessons in more than 10 languages. Please contact the ski school well in advance, especially for less common languages.

The private ski school offers private (group) lessons. If you want your children of different levels to be in the same class, this is the school for you.

Where can I store my ski gear?

Braunbär Hotel & Spa has a ski room. Inside, boot dryers guarantee your feet will be warmed up for your next day of skiing. Keys are available at reception.

What are the breakfast times?

Breakfast is served at the Restaurant from 7 to 10 am, featuring a wide variety of quality products, like baked goods, bread and rolls, yoghurt, fresh fruit, cereal, hot dishes, soft-boiled and scrambled eggs, charcuterie, regional cheeses and more. In short, we have everything you need to choose between a balanced breakfast or a richer meal.

We also offer plenty of dairy-free and gluten-free products.

Is room service available for breakfast?

Yes, we offer room service. You can order your breakfast from reception the day before, for a surcharge of CHF 5.

What time is the restaurant open?

The Restaurant at Braunbär Hotel & Spa is open from 6:30 to 8:30 pm, offering you an extraordinary bistronomic dining experience.

What is the Fondue Gondola and how do I book it?

In our hotel’s garden, you will find the old Nummer 100 Männlichen cable car, where we are happy to present another highlight of Wengen’s gastronomy. Our one-of-a-kind Fondue Gondola is the ideal setting for an intimate, romantic meal! We recommend booking it at least one day in advance.

Are food and beverages available outside the restaurant’s opening hours?

Yes, we serve a variety of snacks and pizzas in the afternoon and evening at our cosy bar featuring a fireplace. Its opening hours and other information depend on the season and are available at reception and in the welcome packet you’ll find in your room.

If I have food allergies or a special diet, are there any alternatives for me?

We will be happy to meet your personal needs and concoct appropriate culinary delights for you. Please inform us of your allergies and/or diet when making your booking.

The wellness centre is free for all your family members to use between 10 am and 8 pm.

Access to the steam room and sauna is restricted to guests ages 16 and over.

The spa is a dedicated wellness and relaxation area. Please respect the quiet nature of this space. Don’t forget to bring your swimming costume and be sure to book your treatments in advance by writing to reservation@braunbaerhotel.com.

For hygiene reasons, we recommend short swimsuits/trunks.
